PAMPERING IN PARADISE:

A guide to the best spas in Los Cabos.

Cabo San Lucas built its reputation as a resort destination on sport fishing, but in the past decade, Los Cabos has also become a necessary stop for golfers as well as for those looking for out of this world spa experiences.

Virtually every hotel or resort boasts an onsite spa, and many display lengthy conceptual massage and treatment menus, as well as stylish salon services and state-of-the-art fitness facilities. Los Cabos dominates rankings of the best spas in Latin America.

It should come as no surprise that the best spas feature expansive, world-class spa services and facilities. The following is a list of the “must experience” spas I have visited, so you can check them out firsthand and see what the buzz is all about!

As soon as I walked into this spa, I was impressed by the number of services offered here; a full range of facials, body wraps as well as beauty salon services such as manicures, pedicures, and hairstyling.

The massage menu covers all the basic styles – Swedish, deep tissue, reflexology, sports, aromatherapy, and hot stone in addition to providing special custom options like a romantic couples massage by the Sea of Cortez, and a relaxing moon and stars therapy that pairs Swedish massage with sparkling wine and passion fruits.

Recommended because: Excellent mixology was offered to me throughout the experience

A generous array of skin, body and beauty therapies, as well as special spa packages and five minute samplers poolside available to choose from.

Top massages include the beachside and a golfers’ massage designed to decrease fatigue and improve flexibility. Chocolate and mint exfoliations, and Tired Legs and Feet treatments highlight the body care menu. I was unable to try the Luxury Caviar Facial Treatment which is among the many soothing skincare therapies; will definitely come back to try it soon. Salon services include manicures, pedicures, and hair care.

Recommended because: Excellent golfers’ massages are available.

The best part of this spa is the history and cultural experiences behind it. The signature spa services are primarily derived from ancient Mayan and Aztec rituals, and showcase traditional Mexican ingredients.

Holistic programs include Ayurveda and Temazcal (sweat lodge) therapies, as well as a range of massages and body treatments, facials and exfoliations, and manicures and pedicures. I was also offered access to the onsite fitness facility, and to a hydrotherapy circuit with wet and dry saunas, plunge pools, and hydro massage.

Recommended because: Playa Grande is one of the premier sites in Los Cabos for Temazcal, a traditional sweat lodge therapy that dates back to Mexico’s pre-Hispanic past. Unbelievable experience!

Garza Blanca’s Imagine Spa is without a doubt one of the best spas in Los Cabos. I was so impressed by the beauty all around it! With a world-class Hydrotherapy circuit as well as soothing therapy rooms customized for each spa treatment, Imagine will keep you coming back (Trust me, I have been there more than 10 times!)

A selection of specialty treatment rooms complements a range of individual therapy suites fitted with state-of-the-art adjustable therapy beds. With a steam room, sauna, high-pressure shower, vitality pool, cold plunge pool among other amenities, clients in this spa will find all that is needed to relax, calm the mind, and put the body in balance.

Recommended because: Imagine spa has all the latest in wellness, beauty, and treatments. State of the art equipment from the moment you step into the spa.

Hard to top!

It is true: This is one of the most serene and beautiful locales in the world. Desert Spa capped off my perfect vacation. Personally, I indulged in their popular aromatherapy massage using Baja California fruit extracts; the masseuse was kind enough to answer all the questions I had regarding the fruits being used.

They just smelled so good I could not pass the opportunity to find out. In the menu, I saw the “sportsman combo” designed exclusively for men, which I thought was a plus as I have not seen a full pampering experience targeted directly for men.

In general, the onsite spa facilities are expansive, and the treatment menu is enormous!

Recommended because: You have to try my personal favorite- The Desert Spa Signature Enzyme Facial. The best anti-aging facial I have ever tried!
